{"id":44,"date":"2008-01-31T10:30:13","date_gmt":"2008-01-31T15:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spacerogue.net\/wordpress\/?p=44"},"modified":"2023-02-24T11:15:33","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T16:15:33","slug":"quickies-and-l0pht-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spacerogue.net\/?p=44","title":{"rendered":"Quickies and L0pht News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There have been a lot of things happening in the security world lately that I have wanted to write about like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FGeekonomics-Real-Cost-Insecure-Software%2Fdp%2F0321477898%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1201791595%26sr%3D8-1&amp;tag=hackerintel-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Geekonomics<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/politics\/security\/news\/2008\/01\/myspace_torrent\">half million pictures<\/a> pilfered from MySpace and the accompanying <a href=\"http:\/\/thepiratebay.org\/tor\/3985864\/%5Btribalwar.com%5D_567_000_private_myspace_pictures\">torrent file<\/a>, how the NSA has wrestled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2008\/01\/25\/AR2008012503261.html?hpid=moreheadlines\">control of the nations cyber-security<\/a> away from DHS, how the recently proposed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crypto.com\/papers\/paa-ieee.pdf\">Protect America Act<\/a> won&#8217;t, that Yahoo&#8217;s CAPTCHA has been <a href=\"http:\/\/network-security-research.blogspot.com\/\">cracked<\/a> (not wide open but open enough), about Bruce Schnier&#8217;s excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itnews.com.au\/News\/69146,information-is-our-only-security-weapon-bruce-schneier.aspx\">speech<\/a> down under, how the Feds are getting rid of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darkreading.com\/document.asp?doc_id=144080\">admin rights<\/a> on XP boxes (about time) and of course about the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.wired.com\/27bstroke6\/2007\/06\/estonia_cyberwa.html\">CyberWar that wasn&#8217;t really<\/a>. Like I said a lot of stuff going on recently to write about but I&#8217;ve just been to busy.<\/p>\n<p>But what I really wanted to mention today was that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sourceboston.com\/\">L0pht reuion<\/a> I mentioned earlier seems to be becoming a pretty <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darkreading.com\/document.asp?doc_id=144609&amp;WT.svl=news1_2\">big deal<\/a>. Did I mention the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sourceboston.com\/blog\/?p=6\">Pub Crawl?<\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nP.S. Looks like the latest version of WordPress hosed some of my site.
